Reservation in Supreme Court
For the first time in its history, the Supreme Court has introduced a formal policy of reservation in the direct appointment and promotion for Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) staff working in the top court.
The reservation is not for judges. The policy covers a wide swathe of posts, including registrars, senior personal assistants, assistant librarians, junior court assistants and chamber attendants.
Carbon Credit Trading Scheme (CCTS)
CCTS is India’s domestic market mechanism to incentivise industries to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by earning and trading carbon credits.
It is administered by the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) under the Ministry of Power.
It covers sectors notified under the Energy Conservation Act.
It was launched in 2023.
Entities exceeding emission reduction targets earn carbon credits, which can be sold to those falling short. It, thus, creates a market-driven approach to climate responsibility.
Recently, the Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change issued Draft Emission Target Rules under CCTS.
A World of Debt 2025
Report released by United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD).
It highlights the surge in global public debt with disproportionate burden on developing countries.
Financial Stability Report
By Reserve Bank of India (RBI)
It is released biannually i.e. two times in a year.
National Indicator Framework (NIF) Report
By the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI).
It serves as the backbone for monitoring Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) at the national level.
Wilmington Declaration
The Declaration is related to QUAD grouping (India, Japan, Australia, US)
It was adopted at the Quad Leaders’ Summit 2024, in Wilmington, Delaware (US).
Recently, the first-ever ‘QUAD at Sea Ship Observer Mission’ was launched under the Wilmington Declaration.
SACHET (सचेत)
A national disaster alert portal developed by the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA).
It publishes various warnings & alerts in a geo-targeted manner so that the right information reaches the right people at right time.
Altermagnets
A new type of magnetic material that behave like a mix of ferromagnets (which are strongly magnetic) and antiferromagnets (which have no net magnetism).
Ferromagnets: Spins align in the same direction, resulting in strong magnetism.
Antiferromagnets: Spins alternate, thus cancelling each other out, resulting in no external magnetism.
They can carry spin-polarized electric current (used in spintronics) without creating external magnetic fields – making them useful for low-power, high-speed electronic devices.
Altermagnets are more stable and less affected by magnetic noise, making them a strong candidate for future technologies like quantum computing and advanced memory devices.
